Minutes of May 2010 Meeting
May 10th 2010
The St. Therese Altar and Rosary Society met in the Wooldridge Center on May 10th, 2010. The rosary was not said due to a funeral in the church.
Deb called the meeting to order and presented the year end gifts to St. Vincent DePaul, Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Therese Early Education Center, and Harvesters.
Minutes were read from the April meeting.
Bernice questioned the financial report from the last meeting wondering why we had a $300 financial services charge, and had hired a CPA. Deb said the board has the authority to appoint an auditor. Mary spoke about the fee, saying it was for software, and that her time was free. Bernice asked why it was not voted on. Requests for auditors services were asked for by Mike Birkel.
Nichole mentioned ice cream social coming up July 25th. Volunteers are needed to stuff envelopes in June, and to make desserts for the event in July.
January Batcheler read the annual report.
Mary spoke about the budget for the upcoming year. This month there were $706 in excess expenses, this was due to funeral dinners. We had a contribution from the Knights, as well as an influx in membership dues.
Chris said our beginning balance was $16,812, ending balance $15,346.
Deb addressed the group about allocating additional funds. Bernice said Mike Birkel had not asked for money for carpet, and wondered if the money could be given with no strings attached. January had mentioned that in the July minutes Mike Birkel specifically mentioned carpet as a need of the church. Bernice made a motion to give $15,000 to the church where they see fit.
Mike Birkel said he thought that the ladies would like something to attach their donations to.
Bernice made a motion to contribute $10,000 to the parish office, Cat 2nd, majority agreed.
Deb mentioned that the constitution was amended in 2009. She suggested it may be amended again to be more clear. Someone suggested putting it on our website.
Mary Calvillo announced that Deb Chatfield has been elected as the president of the St. Therese Altar and Rosary Society.
Installation of the officers was done by Father Mike.
Nichole made a motion to close the meeting, Vanessa 2nd.
